Courier giant blue dart hit by massive fraud scheme, 2 arrests made in Bidhannagar

In a case of substantial financial fraud, a significant sum was swindled from a prominent courier service company through the falsification of documents. Following the interrogation of the primary suspect, the police apprehended another individual in connection with the case. The Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station is actively investigating the matter.

According to law enforcement sources, the investigation began when Anunay Majumdar, the area manager of Blue Dart Express Limited Courier Company, lodged a complaint on August 25, 2023. Majumdar alleged that an individual named Shubashis Gupta, a senior executive responsible for operations in various district clusters, had illicitly withdrawn 13 lakh 80 thousand rupees from the company. The alleged fraud involved the forgery of the company's email IDs and the signatures of high-ranking officials over a span from 2021 to 2023.

The primary accused in the case was arrested in the Baghajatin area of Kolkata .Subsequent interrogation of the primary suspect led to the revelation of another individual who was allegedly complicit in the fraud. Acting on this information, the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police conducted a raid in the Bansdroni area and arrested Shubhankar Biswas, one of the suspects connected to the case. The police recovered various documents and personal items from Biswas, including an Aadhaar card, PAN card, multiple debit and credit cards, a mobile phone, and a termination letter from Blue Dart. The accused will be presented in Bidhannagar court, and the police intend to request his custody for further investigation. Authorities are actively probing the potential involvement of additional individuals in this fraudulent operation.
